I studied psychology (BSc Hons) at the University of Southampton in 1998 before undertaking postgraduate training in Health Psychology (MSc) at Middlesex University. In 2006, I began doctoral level training in psychology (DPsych) at City University, London which allowed me to graduate as a fully qualified, chartered Counselling Psychologist.
I am registered as a Practitioner Psychologist with the HCPC.
I have over 15 years experience working as a psychologist. I have worked in a variety of settings including primary care (City & Hackney NHS), secondary care (Community Mental Health Team, Maudsley & South London NHS), chronic pain (National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen's Square, London), a perinatal mental health team (University College Hospitals London, NHS) and within a charity providing support to women and children affected by domestic violence.
I have particular interests in working within women’s health, trauma and chronic pain, and have experience working with all types of pain including back pain, neuropathic pain, post-stroke and post-surgery pain, Joint Hypermobility Syndrome (JHS)/EDS, fibromyalgia, migraines and chronic daily headaches, facial pain and pelvic pain. Women's health issues may include problems with pregnancy (such as postnatal depression, anxiety, trauma, miscarriage and loss) and health conditions such as endometriosis and ME/CFS. I am also experienced in helping people who are struggling with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD): this can be the result of a single event (such as a car accident) or following prolonged exposure to trauma which is often interpersonal in nature (such as that seen in childhood abuse and/or domestic violence).
However, I have experience helping people with a wide range of difficulties including depression, anxiety and panic, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), insomnia, grief and loss, self-harm, relationship difficulties. My door is open to anyone regardless of their gender or the nature of their difficulties, so please get in touch even if your problem is not listed above. Please note, I only work with people aged over 18 years of age.
I am registered with a number of insurance companies including AXA PPP, Aviva, Cigna and Vitality.
